Gestern drehten Swede und ich die gewohnte Runde – einmal zum Hügel hinauf, einmal um den Felsen herum, und einmal wieder zurück. Jedoch kamen wir nur bis zum Felsen, denn dort oben gewahrten wir plötzlich etwas Seltsames. Es mochte sich gut versteckt haben und es mochte von Ferne für ein Trugbild gehalten werden, trotzdem war da etwas im blattlosen Geäst auszumachen. Ja da saß etwas im Baum.Wir nahten uns mit dem festen Schritt eines Wackelpuddings bis wenige Schritte ans Gehölz heran. Tatsächlich saß da ein kleiner Leopard - wenn ich Leopard sage, dann meine ich eigentlich eine Leopardin - auf dem kargen Gestrüpp, das sich stolz Bäumchen nennt. Als wir am Fuße standen, sprang sie herab, setzte sich zu uns.Und anstatt unsere Ländereien abzugehen und Grenzen zu erneuern, plauderten wir mit der Leopardin. Da war die Rede von langen Wanderungen, von Plündereien im Hühnerstall, von Diskussionen mit Nachbars Hunden; zum guten Schluss liefen wir – Swede und Molly und ich – zu dritt den Rest des Weges und wärmten uns zu Hause auf.Wie immer.🇬🇧Yesterday Swede and I did our usual trip - once up the hill, around the rock, and back again. However, we only got as far as the rock, because up there we noticed something strange. It might have hidden itself well and from a distance it might be mistaken for a mirage, but there was something in the leafless branches. No doubt about it.We approached the tree just a few steps with the firm gait of a jello. In fact there was a little leopard - when I say leopard, I actually mean a leopardess - sat on the barren undergrowth that proudly calls itself sapling. When we stood at the foot of the trunk, she jumped down and sat with us.And instead of walking around our lands and renewing borders, we chatted with the leopardess. Wer hätte geglaubt, dass wir mit liebenswerten Spinnen sprachen und in düstere Höhlen vordrangen und wildlodernde Flammen löschten und einen Flaschengeist fanden und mit jenem riesigen Biest nach Hause gehen würden, ein Biest, das sich zuletzt als armes, gequältes Geschöpf herausstellte? Jede Gefahr nahmen wir auf uns, um herzugelangen; nun wollten wir sehen, für was wir uns den Ar... den Arm aufgerissen haben. Ob Jaspers Buch helfen konnte, die Kiste aus dem Feuer zu bekommen? Ein letztes Mal durchsuchten wir alle Seiten nach Hinweisen.Da stand geschrieben: »In den Spuren der starren Kralle sollst du wandeln!«Aber was mochte das Bedeuten? War’s wörtlich zu nehmen? War’s eine Metapher? Glaubte man den Zeichnungen, musste es wahrhaftig etwas mit Krallen zu tun haben. Und war die Zeichnung einigermaßen getreu, waren’s Krallen der Katzenart, jedoch schien Jasper keine Lösung für’s dritte Rätsel gefunden zu haben. Drei ??? waren selten die Lösung für ein Rätsel. Und so verfielen wir in eine nachdenkliche Stille.Wisst ihr denn, was zu tun ist?🇬🇧The three-tailed beast of Caledonia - Part 15🕖We decided to open the chest - no matter what it would take. We defyed every danger to get here; now we wanted to see what we ripped our a... our arm off for. Could Jasper's book help get the treasure chest out of the fire? We searched all pages for clues one last time.It was written: "You shall walk in the footsteps of the rigid claw!"But what did that mean? Was it to be taken literally? Was it a metaphor? If we believed the drawings, it really had to have something to do with claws. And if the drawing was fairly true, it was the cat's claws, but Jasper didn't seem to have found a solution to the third riddle though. Three ??? were seldom the solution to a riddle. And so we fell into a pensive silence.What should we do? Niemand sprach mehr, nur der schwere Atem war zu hören, von Aufregung ausgestoßen, kurz und flach wie das letzte bisschen Mut in unserer Brust.Wir durchschritten die Pforte ins Innere - da war steinernes Gemäuer, Nischen zu jeder Himmelsrichtung und jene Höhlung, von Licht durchflutet. Wir traten immer weiter hinein, geleitet vom Lichtschein. Und plötzlich fanden wir es: Da stand eine hölzerne Kiste in der Morgensonne, umfasst von unzähligen Lohen.Wer sich der Kiste nahte, der sah, wie die Flammen aus dem Boden schlugen und zu dreifacher Größe anwuchsen – nein auf diese Weise würden wir nicht an die Kiste gelangen. Aber wer sagte eigentlich, dass wir zu der Kiste gelangen wollten? Wusste denn jemand, was darin zu finden war, das die Mühen lohnte?🇬🇧The three-tailed beast of Caledonia - Part 14🕡Step by step we climbed the keep; the faster the heart beat, the slower we went. Nobody spoke anymore, only the heavy breathing could be heard, expelled by excitement, short and flat like the last bit of courage in our chests.We walked through the gate inside - there were stone walls, niches to every point of the compass and that cave, flooded with light. We stepped further and further in, guided by the glow of light. And suddenly we found it: there was a wooden box in the morning sun, surrounded by innumerable fires.Whoever approached the box saw, how the flames burst out of the floor and grew to three times the size - no, that way we would not get to the box. But who said we wanted to get to the box? Die dreischwänzige Bestie von Caledonia – Teil 13🕕An zwei Orten der Burg fanden wir zwei Artefakte – jedes Wort aus Jaspers Buch wandelte sich von der Vermutung zur Gewissheit. Aber was uns ins Staunen und Glückseligkeit versetzen sollte, ließ uns stattdessen ganz bange sein. Wenn zwei der Orte tatsächlich existierten, würden wir also auch den dritten finden? Was, wenn uns wirklich eine Bestie auflauerte, droben im Bergfried?Noch waren wir Herr über die eigene Freiheit, konnten den Turm jederzeit hinabsteigen. Noch konnten wir die Artefakte mit uns nehmen und verstecken. Wer weiß, ob die Bestie ohne diese je gefunden werden konnte. Womöglich würde allein das die Welt vor dem Bösen bewahren, alles ohne uns selbst in Gefahr zu bringen.Nein wir durften’s nicht riskieren. Wir mussten hinauf, wie es Jaspers Zeichnung vorsah.🇬🇧The three-tailed beast of Caledonia - Part 13🕕We found two artifacts in two places in the castle - every word in Jasper's book changed from guesswork to certainty. But what was supposed to astonish and delight us left us with fear instead. If two of the places actually existed, would we find the third one too? What if a beast really was ambushing us up in the castle keep?We were still in control of our freedom and could descend the tower at any time. We could still take the artifacts with us and hide them. Who knows if the beast could ever be found without these. Perhaps that would save the world from evil, without endangering ourselves.No, we couldn't risk it. Die dreischwänzige Bestie von Caledonia – Teil 9🕓Nachdem wir - kleine Plüschtiere – einander in der Dummheit bestärkten, eine Bestie zu suchen, stiegen wir endlich den Turm hinauf. Immer rundherum wendelte die Treppe, und dabei zählten wir die Umkreise ab, wie sie auf der Zeichnung des ersten Schwanzes eingezeichnet waren – nach vier ganzen Drehungen fanden wir einen Abzweig zu einer geheimen Kammer. Ist das der erste Ort, den wir finden sollten? Und was suchten wir überhaupt?Das Buch sagte nicht viel; nur so viel: »Reiche der Dunkelheit die Hand!«Was meinte Jasper mit der »Dunkelheit«? Ob er die Einbuchtung oben in der Wand meinte? Das wollte Swede herausfinden – zu diesem Zwecke knüpften Mneka und Swede das Seil an einen Stein, auf dass es ein Wurfanker ward. Und damit begann das mutige Mädchen den Aufstieg ins Unbekannte.🇬🇧The three-tailed beast of Caledonia - Part 9🕓After we - little plushies - encouraged each other to look for a beast, we finally climbed the tower. The stairs turned round and round, and while we stepped up we counted the perimeters as the cat's first tail was drawn in the book - after four full turns we found a branch to a secret chamber. Is this the first place we should find? And what were we looking for?The book didn't say much but this: "Shake hands with the darkness!"What did Jasper mean by "darkness"? Did he mean the indentation in the top of the wall? Swede wanted to find out - for this Mneka and Swede tied the rope to a stone so that it became a throwing anchor. Die dreischwänzige Bestie von Caledonia – Teil 7🕒Da saßen wir, der Bauch war ganz flau und niemand hatte eine Ahnung, wo mit der Suche zu beginnen sei und was zu tun wäre, wenn wir die Bestie dereinst fanden. 😮 Aber eins nach dem anderen – zunächst studierten wir Jaspers Zeichnungen, betrachteten das dreischwänzige Tier in dem Buch, betrachteten die Burg, betrachteten das Tier und die Burg und wieder das Tier und plötzlich hatte Mneka eine Eingebung: Das von Jasper gezeichnete Tier ähnelt in etwa der Form der Festung.Was, wenn die Zeichnung den Aufenthaltsort verriet? Was, wenn jeder der drei Schwänze einen Ort der Burg beschrieben, den sie aufsuchen müssten? Und was würde uns dort erwarten?Das wollten wir untersuchen.🇬🇧The three-tailed beast of Caledonia - Part 7🕒There we sat, our stomachs were very weak and no one had any idea where to start the quest or - even worse - what to do if we have found the beast. 😮 But we should go on step by step - first of all we studied Jasper's drawings, looked at the three-tailed animal in the book, looked at the castle, looked at the animal and the castle, at the animal again and suddenly Mneka had an epiphany: The cat that Jasper had drawn is somewhat similar to that Shape of the castle.What if the drawing revealed the whereabouts? What if each of the three tails described a place in the castle that we had to visit?
