Die kleine Mneka fragte mich, wie lange es wohl noch dauerte, bis die rote Sonne ins Meer tropfte. Ich sagte ihr, dass sie sich wohl noch eine Stunde gedulden müsse, und als sie das hörte, begann sie ohne weiteres Zaudern ein wildes Scharren im Sand, gleich vor mir, immer tiefer und tiefer hinein, bis ein beträchtlicher Krater entstand. Nicht lange war’s, da wühlte auch Swede im Sand herum, und wenig später fragte ich, was sie da taten. Mneka sagte mir, dass sie sich das Warten auf den Sonnenuntergang mit einer Schatzsuche vertreiben würden. Genau!Das sollte sie mir genauer erklären: Was wäre es für eine Schatzsuche, die ganze ohne die eigentliche Suche auskäme? Aber Mneka grub beharrlich weiter, denn, so sagte sie, wenn man nur lang genug an einer Stelle grub, würde man fündig. Das hätte sie neulich in einem Buch gelesen.Derart viel Weisheit war nicht viel zu entgegnen, und so ließ ich die Kinder graben.Plötzlich war da ein porzellaniges Geräusch. Ja, es ging durch jedes Gebein, als quietschten kleine Krallen über einen Teller. Nanu. Die Kleinen besahen einander, besahen den Sand zu ihren Pfoten, gruben, staunten über den Klang, gruben weiter und staunten nicht schlecht – da war eine riesige Muschel im Sand verborgen. Since then he has been taking care of me as if I were his birth child, although I don't even have any spots. Yeah yeah, sometimes he's a little strict and scolds me for doing nonsense (in his opinion), but he does it just because he loves me and doesn't want anything to happen to me. All the time he protects me from thunderstorms, watches scary movies with me, goes to the garden with me or takes me on his trips.I want to thank him for that. He will probably say that his devotion is self-evident and all that sensible nonsense, but it is not self-evident.
