I know my contribution came three days late, but I found @tiarainfall’s #DTIYS challenge just one day before the deadline. Too late. Nevertheless, I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to try my hand at this wonderful motif, even though the execution is way beyond my current watercolor skills.
So I reduced the level of realism a little, at the same time I interpreted the drawing a little differently - I call it »Nightfall«. You can see two opposing cheetahs, and the upper one - the darkness - breaks over the light cheetah, just as the light cheetah will break over the dark cheetah the other day. As it has been since the beginning of time.
In retrospect, I would have made the yellow of the sun more reddish, more sunset like, so the white of the tear stripes of the light cheetah could have faded into the bright sun like yellow as the tear stripes of the night cheetah could have faded from the black into the purple of the night. So the symbolic merging of day into night would have been clearer. But I still like this piece - I can’t do any better at the moment.
